Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana
National Weather Service Louisville KY
256 PM EDT Fri Oct 17 2025

.DISCUSSION...High pressure over the Great Lakes will slide off
to the east of the Appalachians tonight. Scattered high clouds
will increase in coverage through the evening hours, limiting
mixing potential somewhat. For Saturday, a cold front will
approach the region from the northwest, with southwest winds
bringing warm air into the area ahead of the front. Temperatures
should warm into the 80s Saturday afternoon across southern IN and
central KY, with breezy winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts of 20 to
30 mph likely. The cold front will pass through the region late
Saturday night into Sunday morning, bringing a chance for showers
and thunderstorms, a few of which could be strong to severe. Much
cooler temperatures and continued windy conditions are expected on
Sunday.
