.DISCUSSION...
A slow, southward-moving cold front will bring a wind shift to a
northerly direction today. In addition, scattered storms along
this front over southeast Illinois and central Indiana early
this morning will drop south and may (30-50% chance) affect areas
mainly north of I-64 in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky
around daybreak. Additional storms will fire along the front near
and south of the Western Kentucky and Bluegrass Parkways late this
afternoon, perhaps lingering into the overnight in the Bluegrass
area. Mixing will be modest ahead of the front today, leading to
RH values in the 35-45 percent range and fair dispersion despite
weak transport winds over southern Kentucky. However, northern
Kentucky and southern Indiana, where the front will arrive during
the morning, will remain more stable and have much higher RH
values throughout the day, making burning unfavorable.
Aside from a low (15-30%) chance of a storm over the Lake
Cumberland and Bluegrass regions tomorrow and Wednesday, the area
should remain rain-free. However, low level moisture associated
with the parent upper level low will linger, preventing afternoon
RH values from falling below 50-70% (lowest west) each day.
