Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana
National Weather Service Louisville KY
321 PM EDT Thu Oct 1 2026

.DISCUSSION...For the remainder of the afternoon we`ll see mostly
sunny skies with high clouds drifting in from the west. Gusty
southwest winds will continue for the next several hours before
dying down toward sunset. Overnight, a cold front will approach
from the northwest and will bring widespread rain showers to
southern Indiana after midnight. The front will slowly move
southeast across Kentucky on Friday with widespread clouds and
rain showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder or two. Rainfall
amounts through Saturday night will average between one half and
one inch. Dry weather will return to the region on Sunday with
much of next week remaining dry as well. Daytime highs will be
seasonal with large diurnal temperature spreads. Some areas in
southern Indiana and the northern Bluegrass may drop into the
upper 30s for lows Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
