Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
349 PM CDT Fri Oct 2 2026

.DISCUSSION...

An area of high pressure over the Great Lakes region will be the
dominant weather feature through at least the middle of next week
resulting in an extended period of tranquil weather. Therefore,
expect seasonable temperatures with highs in the 60s to lower 70s
and overnight lows in the 40s to around 50. With ample sunshine
during this period daily mixing heights should peak around
3000-5000 ft each afternoon. RH values, however, may vary a bit
day to day as deeper mixed days may allow dew points to lower and
result in minimum RH values around 35-45% (45-55% on lesser mixed
days). At this time, the best chances for these lower RH readings
look to be Monday through Wednesday of next week, but if dew
points mix out on Saturday (like they have today) then these
readings could be seen then too.
