Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
447 AM CDT Wed Jun 19 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Today will be hot and humid once again with highs generally in the
low to mid 90s, though winds won`t be as breezy as they were
yesterday. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to
develop this afternoon with the greatest storm coverage expected to
remain near and north of a Peru to Aurora to Evanston line.

A backdoor cold front will move into the area on Thursday, bringing
cooler temperatures and lower mixing heights across far northeastern
Illinois and northwestern Indiana before stalling out. Isolated to
scattered thunderstorms are also expected to develop once again
Thursday afternoon.

The front is then expected to return northward on Friday, continuing
the hot and humid conditions for most locations, with the exception
of areas near the Lake Michigan shore. Breezy southwesterly winds
will then bring the warmth all the way to the lakeshore on Saturday.
The next best chance for showers and storms will come late Saturday
as a cold front moves into the region. This front will bring slightly
cooler and drier conditions to the area for Sunday and Monday.
