.DISCUSSION...
A decaying thunderstorm complex over the Missouri River early this
morning is expected to gradually decay while crossing Iowa and
northern Illinois. Plenty of mid-level clouds and possibly a few
showers are expected late morning through mid-afternoon.
A cold front will bring isolated thunderstorms to areas north of
I-80, and especially north of I-90, sometime late afternoon
through mid evening. Torrential rainfall and a few instances of
damaging wind are possible with these storms. The cold front will
stall over central Illinois on Wednesday and may lead to scattered
showers and a few thunderstorms south of U.S. 24 during the
afternoon.
Shower and thunderstorm chances will return Friday night and
Saturday with a pair of mid-level troughs crossing the western
Great Lakes. Temperatures are expected to remain near or slightly
below normal for mid to late August with daytime highs in the mid
70s to around 80 through the weekend.
