989 FNUS56 KLOX 132252 FWFLOX Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA 352 PM PDT Fri Jun 13 2025 ...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS INTERIOR AREAS AND SOUTHWEST SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, ESPECIALLY SUN AND MON... .DISCUSSION... This weekend into at least early next week, the region will be in a period of warm to hot weather, with dry conditions and areas of gusty winds. Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions are expected for the Antelope Valley and foothills, the Interstate 5 Corridor in northwest Los Angeles County, and the Western Santa Ynez mountains and foothills in Santa Barbara County (locally down to the coast between Gaviota and Goleta). There will primarily be an increased risk for grass fires based on the current state of the fuels. Sundowner Winds, out of the north to northwest, will occur each evening and night across southwest Santa Barbara County, strongest west of the San Marcos Pass. Gusts of 30 to 50 mph will be common most nights, with up to 60 mph gusts possible Sunday and Monday night. Northwest gusts will occur along in the Interstate 5 corridor in the evenings and overnight with gusts between 30 to 45 mph common and up to 50 mph on Monday night. Finally, typical southwest to west gusts of 25 to 40 mph will impact the Antelope Valley and foothills during the afternoons and evenings each day. Dry humidities will prevail with relative humidities between 6 to 15 percent across the Antelope Valley/foothills, and the driest interior mountains and valleys. Elsewhere across the interior, 12 to 25 percent will be widespread. Inland temperatures between 90 and 100 degrees will be common, with up to around 103 degrees possible in the deserts for the peak of the heat on Sunday. Sunday and Monday nights, the western Santa Ynez Range, foothills, and localized coastal areas (Gaviota to Goleta) will see dry conditions with minimum humidities in the 12 to 25 percent range as well and temperatures in the 80s. Dry/warm conditions will last well into the overnight period, due to the Sundowner Winds, and will likely result in several hours of critical fire weather conditions for southwest Santa Barbara County Sunday and Monday nights.
