...HIGH RISK FOR PLUME DOMINATED FIRES AND HEAT ILLNESS STARTING FRIDAY
AND LASTING FOR MANY DAYS...
.DISCUSSION...
Extremely hot conditions will form on Friday and last for many days.
High temperatures of 95 to 105, and mixing heights around 10,000 feet,
will be common over much of the area, including the coasts. While winds
will generally be light, local north to east winds of 10 to 20 mph with
gusts to 30 mph will form each night and morning over the typically
favored areas, especially over the weekend. Minimum humidities between 10
and 25 percent will be common. Due to the lighter winds, Red Flag
Warnings are unlikely, but there is a history of large fires with similar
heat. As such, there is a high risk for plume-dominated and fast moving
fires. Widespread Heat Advisories and Warnings will be in effect, with a
high risk for heat-related illness. There is also a 5-10% chance of a
thunderstorm over the interior mountains early next week, along with minor
to moderate coastal flooding concerns Tuesday through Thursday.
