Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
325 PM PDT Mon Oct 6 2025

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS LA/VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND
ANTELOPE VALLEY FOOTHILLS THROUGH WEDNESDAY, INCLUDING SANTA CLARITA VALLEY
ON TUESDAY DUE TO BREEZY OFFSHORE WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES...

.DISCUSSION...
Today through Wednesday, there will be some gusty northeast to southeast
winds across the interior mountains and Antelope Valley foothills with
gusts in the 25 to 35 mph range. Isolated southwest wind gusts to 40 mph
will be possible across the San Gabriels on Wednesday. During this time,
the interior areas will see humidities fall to 15 to 25 percent each
day, resulting in elevated fire weather concerns for the LA/Ventura
mountains, Antelope Valley foothills, and Santa Clarita valley.
A surge of subtropical moisture from a remnant tropical system will
bring a chance of rain showers (mainly Los Angeles county south and east)
this Thursday night into Saturday. There is also a 10 percent chance of
thunderstorms for LA county during this time. A cold low pressure system
may bring widespread rain to the region early next week, but there is
also a good chance the system stays east, bringing wind and fire weather
concerns.
