Issued by NWS Los Angeles, CA
696 FNUS56 KLOX 112234 FWFLOX Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA 334 PM PDT Sat Oct 11 2025 ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THROUGH TONIGHT ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE MOUNTAINS OF LOS ANGELES/VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS, SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, SANTA CLARITA VALLEY, CALABASSAS, WESTERN SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, AND SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS... ...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRTTICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS SUNDAY ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS OF EASTERN VENTURA AND WESTERN LOS ANGELES COUNTIES... ...POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH STORM BETWEEN MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY NIGHT... .DISCUSSION... Gusty northwest to north winds with peak gusts of 35 to 50 mph will continue across wind-prone areas through tonight, including the mountains (especially Highway 33/I5 corrdiors), southern Santa Barbara county, Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, western San Fernando Valley, Calabassas, and Santa Monica Mountains. While humidity levels will remain elevated across interior slopes, there will likely be some downslope drying with humidites falling to between 15 and 30 percent in some of the windier locations today through tonight. As a result, these areas will experience elevated fire weather concerns through tonight. By Sunday, the flow will shift to the northeast, mainly focusing on eastern Ventura county and western LA counties, where wind gusts of 20 to 40 mph will be likely. This coupled with humidities between 10 and 20 percent will bring widespread elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions across the mountains and valleys of eastern Ventura county and western LA county on Sunday. There is the potential for a significant storm system that could bring widespread rain to the region between Monday night and Tuesday night. The lates projections have rainfall rates increasing, with a chance of thunderstorms (mainly from Ventura county northward), resulting in the potential for minor flooding/debris flows in recent burn scars, as well as roadway flooding.
