.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather conditions are expected across the Antelope
Valley and foothills, with a risk for grass fires. The highest risk will be
Saturday and Sunday during the afternoon and early evening hours.
A ridge of high pressure aloft will yield hot and dry conditions
through the weekend. Temperatures will be warmest Friday and Saturday
with highs around 90 to 100 degrees across the deserts and valleys. Heat
Advisories are in effect for most valleys, and the Santa Monica and
Santa Susana Mountains. Daytime humidities will be driest Friday and
Saturday with 8 to 15 percent common across the Antelope Valley and
foothills, with 12 to 25 percent common for all other areas away from
the coast. Overnight recoveries will be poorest Saturday night, with 20
to 40 percent maximum humidites across the mountains and deserts.
Southwest gusts of 20 to 35 are expected for the Antelope Valley and
foothills and interior mountains. Winds will be the strongest on Sunday
afternoon. The coasts will see northwest to westerly gusts of 15 to 30
mph on Friday.
Much cooler and more humid conditions are expected Monday into next
week, with low clouds and fog pushing back into the valleys.
