Hot and dry conditions will develop today and will prevail through midweek. The marine layer has compressed to around 500 feet, which will limit its influence to the immediate coastal region, and contribute to further drying above 1000 feet. Very low daytime humidities and poor overnight recoveries are expected across the higher elevations. Winds remain onshore, but breezy afternoon winds will elevate the fire weather threat in the interior mountains, especially through favored gaps and passes. Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified. Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds. ...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard... ...WARMING AND DRYING TREND THROUGH HOLIDAY WEEKEND WITH ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS INTERIOR INCLUDING RISK OF LARGE PLUME DOMINATED FIRES... ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS ACROSS CENTRAL COAST HILLS AND CANYONS TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY DUE TO BREEZY OFFSHORE WINDS WITH VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS... ...POTENTIAL INCREASE IN MONSOONAL MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY WILL BRING THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS AND ENHANCED RISK OF LARGE PLUME DOMINATED FIRES TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY... Temperatures will warm today through Tuesday as high pressure aloft reestablishes and builds back into the Four Corners Region. The peak of the heat will be Monday through Wednesday, when highs of 95 to 106 will be common across the valleys, lower mountains, and deserts. In addition, hot and dry conditions with breezy offshore winds will bring elevated fire weather conditions this weekend to the Central Coast foothills and canyons, with offshore wind gusts as high as 20 to 35 mph late tonight into Sunday. The hotter temperatures combined with increased instability will bring deeper mixing heights which are expected to peak Monday through Wednesday at 12,000 to 18,000 feet across the interior. As a result, there is an elevated risk for large plume dominated fires across the interior. Humidities between 10 and 25 percent will be common over the warmest valleys and mountains through Tuesday, then potential humidity increase by Wednesday due to an influx of monsoonal moistures. This monsoonal threat will also bring a small chance of thunderstorms Tuesday through Friday. The best chances (15-25%) will be in the LA/Ventura county mountains and Antelope Valley, but there is also a 5-15% chance of thunderstorms for other portions of Southwest California including coastal/valley areas. $$ ECC028-311045- Santa Barbara County excluding Los Padres National Forest- Discussion for Santa Barbara ECC Dispatch 935 AM PDT Sat Aug 30 2025 ...WARMING AND DRYING TREND THROUGH HOLIDAY WEEKEND WITH ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS INTERIOR INCLUDING RISK OF LARGE PLUME DOMINATED FIRES... ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS ACROSS CENTRAL COAST HILLS AND CANYONS TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY DUE TO BREEZY OFFSHORE WINDS WITH VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS... ...POTENTIAL INCREASE IN MONSOONAL MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY WILL BRING THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS AND ENHANCED RISK OF LARGE PLUME DOMINATED FIRES TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...
