Upper level high pressure ridging will strengthen tonight and Wednesday, compressing the marine layer and resulting in a warm to hot and dry day Wednesday. Beginning Thursday the upper level ridge will begin weakening leading to the arrival of upper level troughing late in the week and weekend. Min humidity values in the teens or possibly lower across the interior of the district will result in elevated fire concerns for fine fuels. Increasing onshore winds during the end of the week and weekend will result in better humidity recovery, including inland. Gusty winds at higher elevations Friday and Saturday will be accompanied by higher humidity values relative to the current mid-week time. Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified. Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds. ...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard... ...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY THROUGH THIS EVENING DUE TO GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS, VERY WARM TEMPERATURES, AND LOW HUMIDITIES, WITH POTENTIAL RETURN OF SUNDOWNER WINDS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY EVENINGS... ...WIDESPREAD GUSTY NORTHWEST TO WEST WINDS POSSIBLE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOCUSED ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND INTERIOR... Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions will continue through this evening for wind prone interior areas and southern Santa Barbara county where north to northwest wind gusts of 20 to 40 mph with isolated gusts to 50 mph will overlap with humidities generally 8 to 20 percent. Elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions will become relegated to far interior areas by Thursday thanks to cooling and moistening trends with typical onshore winds gusting 20 to 40 mph with the possible exception of the Antelope Valley Foothills and southern Santa Barbara County with gusts possibly to 50 mph by Thursday. Min humidites of 10 to 20 percent will be common across the interior. Fairly widespread wind gusts of 30 to 50+ mph is are becoming increasingly likely Friday and Saturday under a comparatively cool and somewhat more moist pattern especially near the coast. Drier interior and downsloping areas may still see minimum humidites of 12 to 25 percent with high fire weather concerns focused where winds are the strongest. $$ ECC028-181630- Santa Barbara County excluding Los Padres National Forest- Discussion for Santa Barbara ECC Dispatch 316 PM PDT Tue Jun 17 2025 ...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY THROUGH THIS EVENING DUE TO GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS, VERY WARM TEMPERATURES, AND LOW HUMIDITIES, WITH POTENTIAL RETURN OF SUNDOWNER WINDS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY EVENINGS... ...WIDESPREAD GUSTY NORTHWEST TO WEST WINDS POSSIBLE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOCUSED ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND INTERIOR...
