...Discussion from Monterey...

...Near critical fire weather conditions affect the interior Central
Coast and interior North Bay for the second half of the week and
into the weekend with moderate to poor RH recoveries and breezy to
gusty afternoon and evening winds with low daytime RH...

This afternoon offers the warmest temperatures of the forecast with
sunny skies and poor humidity retentions continuing to dry fire
fuels especially for areas away from the coast. Despite better
onshore flow and a cooling trend, humidities will be slow to
improve in the next few days. This, coupled with increasing winds
from the changing upper-level pattern will increase fire weather
concerns. Areas of higher concern will be the higher terrain in the
far interior as winds look to gust to around 35 mph and humidity
retentions look to fall to 10-20%. Some of these areas will also
have very poor overnight recoveries, less than 25%. Fire concerns
begin to ease into Sunday as winds ease district wide, and
humidities slightly improve.

Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified.
Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds.

...WIDESPREAD GUSTY NORTHWEST TO WEST WINDS POSSIBLE FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY WITH ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
FOCUSED ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND INTERIOR...

Elevated fire weather conditions will become relegated to interior
areas by Thursday thanks to cooling and moistening trends with
typical onshore winds gusting 20 to 40 mph with the possible
exception of the Antelope Valley Foothills and southern Santa
Barbara County with gusts possibly to 50 mph by Thursday. Min
humidites of 10 to 20 percent will be common across the interior,
with values as low as 5 percent in the Antelope Valley today.

Fairly widespread wind gusts of 30 to 50+ mph is are becoming
increasingly likely Friday and Saturday under a comparatively cool
and somewhat more moist pattern, especially near the coast. Isolated
gusts to 60 mph will be possible for the Santa Ynez Range
(especially western portions) west to Gaviota and the mountains
near the I-5 corridor. Below normal confidence in humidities during
this time. However, drier interior and downsloping foothill areas
may see minimum humidites of 12 to 25 percent with elevated to
brief critical fire weather conditions focused where winds are the
strongest. A deep marine layer may support pockets of drizzle by
Saturday from the coast to coastal mountain slopes.

Below normal fire weather concerns for this time of year are likely
Sunday through Tuesday with a fairly deep marine layer supporting
above normal humidity especially west of the mountains with
seasonably gusty onshore winds focused across the interior.
