Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
937 AM EDT Mon Jun 3 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.6 inch low pressure trough is currently over
Minnesota this morning. This trough will then dissipate this
afternoon before reaching Lake Superior, leaving Lake Superior
between 30.0 inch ridging over Quebec into the Lower Great Lakes
and a new trough of 29.4 inches emerging over the western Dakotas.
On Tuesday, 29.2 inch low pressure tracking across the Canadian
Prairies will power the trough eastward to the Upper Mississippi
Valley. The trough will then sail across Lake Superior Tuesday
night and Wednesday morning while the parent low pressure tracks
from the Canadian Prairies toward northern Ontario. On Thursday,
the low, weakening to 29.3 inches, will drift southeast across
northern Ontario while a 30.0 inch high pressure ridge builds
southeast into the Central Plains. This ridge will drift toward
the Mississippi Valley on Friday while the low over northern
Ontario, between Georgian Bay and James Bay, weakens to 29.5
inches.
