Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
406 AM EST Thu Nov 21 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.4 inch low pressure over far eastern Upper
Michigan will deepen to 29.3 inches as it tracks southwest to
northern Lake Michigan early this morning. As the low then weakens
back to 29.5 inches while dropping south down Lake Michigan
during the day today, a 30.4 inch high pressure ridge will build
over the Northern Plains. Tonight, the low will dissipate as a new
29.2 inch low develops over eastern New York. On Friday, 29.3
inch low pressure will spin near the Mid-Atlantic Coast while the
Northern Plains ridge weakens to 30.2 inches. During Friday night
and Saturday, a 29.6 inch trough will develop from the Mid-
Atlantic States to James Bay while a 30.2 inch ridge extends from
the Northern Plains to the Mid-Mississippi Valley. The ridge will
then weaken to 30.0 inches as it shifts to the Upper Great Lakes
over the weekend. During Sunday night and Monday, a 29.7 inch low
pressure will track east-northeast to the Great Lakes region.
