Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

30.1 inch surface high pressure south of the Lower Great Lakes
builds to 30.2 inches later this morning, sending 30.1 inch ridging
over Lake Superior. This ridge is separating a pair of 29.4 inch
lows, one over southern Alberta and one off the Labrador coast.
Throughout the day and into Saturday morning, the high will build to
30.4 inches over New York as the Alberta Low moves to southern
Saskatchewan. Meanwhile, 29.7 inch Hurricane Isaias will move up the
Alabama/Mississippi state line, eventually helping to kick the high
east as it weakens. By early Sunday morning, the Canada low will
split into 2 weaker 29.6 inch lows, one settling over the Central
Plains and one moving from northern Minnesota to northern Ontario.
Meanwhile, the high will shift to the New England coastline, ushered
east by the tropical remnants now at 29.9 inches over Tennessee. For
Sunday evening, the Plains low will shift to eastern Colorado at
29.6 inches, extending a 29.8 inch trough over Lake Superior as the
high and tropical remnants shift further east. The Colorado Low
crosses the Great Lakes basin early next week, followed by 30.2 inch
high pressure for the midweek.
