Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

Ridging steadily builds to 29.9 inches today as the 30.1 inch parent
high digs from the Northern Plains into the Mid-Atlantic today and
tonight. The parent high strengthens to 30.2 inches tonight,
allowing ridging over Lake Superior to increase to 30.1 inches. A
29.3 inch Clipper over southern Alberta on Friday night splits and
creates a 29.4 inch low over the Northern Plains and Canadian
Prairies by Saturday. This low is expected to bring a gradient of
29.6 to 29.9 inch troughing back over Lake Superior on Saturday,
which flattens out to around 29.8 inch troughing by Sunday as the
low weakens to 29.7 inches near Lake Winnipeg by the end of the
weekend. A subtle 29.7 inch shortwave low moves over the lake Sunday
night and remains through Monday evening. An area of high pressure
builds over the Northern Plains Monday night into Tuesday morning
and is expected to move into the area Tuesday afternoon.
