551 FZUS63 KMQT 031401 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 1001 AM EDT Fri Oct 3 2025 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS... A 30.4 inch high over the Mid-Atlantic Coast and a 30.1 inch high crossing northern Ontario today maintain 30.0 to 30.1 inch ridging over Lake Superior through tonight. Meanwhile, troughing over the Plains deepens to 29.6 inches this afternoon, becoming centered over the Dakotas tonight. This lifts towards Lake Winnipeg on Saturday while a 29.4 inch low develops off of the Colorado Rockies. This second low then lifts northeast on Sunday to northwestern Ontario, quickly reaching far northern Quebec by Monday morning as it deepens to at least 29.2 inches. This results in at least 29.8 inch troughing over Lake Superior by Saturday, which holds until Monday morning. In its wake, a 30.3 inch high pressure moving across the Northern Plains brings ridging of 30.1 inches back over Lake Superior by Monday. A reinforcing 30.3 inch high pressure dropping down from the Canadian Prairies into the Northern Plains on Tuesday brings 30.2 inch ridging to Lake Superior by Tuesday evening. The high then strengthens to around 30.4 inches close to the lake Tuesday night into Wednesday.
