Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
1001 AM EDT Wed May 27 2026

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

Ridging of 30.2 inches persists over Lake Superior today due to a
30.3 inch high centered over Hudson Bay. On Thursday, this parent
high shifts southward over the lake at 30.3 inches. The high center
weakens to around 30.1 inches on Friday as it continues its
southerly propagation towards Lower Michigan, causing pressure to
decrease to 29.9 inches over Lake Superior. Following this, a second
ridge pushing in from Hudson Bay brings 30.1 inch ridging back over
the lake late on Friday. Pressure subsequently increases to 30.3
inches by Saturday midday as this second parent high over Hudson Bay
propagates south. High pressure persists over Lake Superior through
early next week.
