Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
1001 PM EDT Sat Aug 15 2026

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

A 29.9 inch low between Thunder Bay and the Northwest Angle builds
into Lake Superior at 29.8 inches later tonight. The associated low
continues to deepen to 29.7 inches as it reaches Quebec just south
of James Bay late Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, a 30.2 inch high over
the Northern Plains on Sunday weakens to 30.0 inches as it slides
generally south of the Great Lakes early in the week. This allows
29.8 inch troughing to return to Lake Superior on Tuesday morning.
Around the same time, a 30.1 inch high over the Canadian Prairies
and Northern Plains weakens to 30.0 inches and heads east into the
Great Lakes for Wednesday and Thursday. This ridging shifts east
into New England Thursday night into Friday as a 29.8 inch trough
builds over Lake Superior from a parent low of at least 29.7 inches
over northern Ontario.
