Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
400 AM EST Wed Dec 3 2025

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

A 29.7 inch trough extending south from a 29.4 inch low over Hudson
Bay will pushpast Lake Superior late this morning. In its wake, a
30.5 inch high builds over the Dakotas this evening. As this high
shifts into the Lower Midwest Thursday, it will pass a 30.2 inch
ridge over the lake. Meanwhile, a 29.7 inch low will move over Lake
Winnipeg before passing north of the lake overnight into Friday.
Friday night, another 29.7 inch trough will pass over the lake. As
the trough (and its parent low near the eastern shores of Hudson
Bay) shifts east, a 30.4 inch high straddles the North Dakota/Canada
by Saturday evening. This high will move over the Upper Mississippi
River Valley Sunday evening at 30.5 inches, shifting towards the
Lower Great Lakes for Monday ahead of the next Clipper Low.
