Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
1000 AM EST Sun Jan 25 2026

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

Remnant 30.4 inch ridging over Lake Superior this morning gradually
weakens to 30.1 inches through Monday morning as a 30.7 inch high
lifts through the Saint Lawrence Seaway today, while another 30.8
inch high drops south through the Northern Plains. A 29.8 inch low
from Manitoba deepens to 29.6 inches crosses the lake Monday night
into Tuesday. A much weaker low grazes the northeast portion of the
lake at 30.1 inches Tuesday night into Wednesday. Strong high
pressure descending from the Canadian Prairies late this week brings
ridging of around 30.6 inches back over Lake Superior by Friday,
with ridging looking to persist into next weekend.
