Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
401 AM EDT Sat May 9 2026

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

A 29.5 inch low over Lake Superior this morning pushes east into
Ontario before arriving over western Quebec this evening. Behind the
low, ridging progressively builds over the lake as a 30.2 inch high
pressure over the Canadian Prairies builds towards the Great Lakes
this weekend. The high shifts southeast into the western Great Lakes
at 30.3 inches Sunday night into Monday. Ridging from the high
persists at around 30.2 inches over Lake Superior through Monday
evening. The ridging is eventually replaced by a 29.7 inch Clipper
descending over western Lake Superior on Tuesday as the previous
high pressure weakens and shifts to the East Coast. As the Clipper
continues towards the eastern Great Lakes Tuesday night into
Wednesday, 30.1 inch high pressure ridging moves over Lake Superior
on Wednesday.
