345 FZUS63 KMQT 010201 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 1001 PM EDT Fri Jul 31 2026 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS... This evening, a 29.7 inch low is over eastern Iowa while a 30.0 inch high is over Manitoba. Through the weekend, the high shifts over northern Ontario while the low shifts south of the Great Lakes. By Sunday night, the 30.0 inch high over northeast Ontario and James Bay will extend 29.9 inch ridging over the lake while the low moves over the Appalachian Range at 29.8 inches. Meanwhile, a 29.3 inch low will move from Saskatchewan into northern Manitoba Sunday night into Monday morning. By Monday night, this low will force the 30.0 inch high over the Great Lakes as the low weakens to 29.5 inches over western Hudson Bay. Tuesday, the high builds to 30.1 inches as it moves over the East Coast while the low expands over the rest of Hudson Bay. Wednesday and Thursday, the high merges with a 30.3 inch Bermuda High, sending a 30.0 inch ridge over Lake Superior while the low retrogrades back to northern Manitoba, weakening to 29.6 inches.
