Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
400 PM EST Mon Feb 9 2026

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

Lake Superior is currently between a 30.5 inch high over the Lower
Great Lakes and a 29.7 inch low over Lake Winnipeg. Today through
Tuesday afternoon, this low will slowly push just north of Lake
Superior, dragging a 29.8 inch trough over the lake as it
progresses. As the low shifts to the Ontario/Quebec line Tuesday
night, high pressure of 30.3 inches builds over the Northern Plains.
This high gradually settles over the Great Lakes by Thursday
morning, building to 30.4 inches. Friday, the high moves to the
southern portion of the Great Lakes while a 29.9 inch low moves
across northern Ontario. This weekend, high pressure resumes over
the Great Lakes as a whole before another clipper low pressure moves
across Manitoba and Ontario while a Colorado Low develops.
