Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
1000 AM EST Tue Mar 3 2026

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...

A 30.1 inch trough will remain over the lake today with ridging of
30.2 inches building in tonight. A large area of high pressure will
move into central and eastern Canada Wednesday into Thursday
morning. The strong high will help keep a 29.7 inch low moving up
from the Southern Plains to our south as it weakens to 29.6 inches
by the time it reaches the Lower Great Lakes Wednesday night,
dissipating thereafter. On Friday low pressure ejects out of the
Plains, reaching Lake Superior Saturday morning at least at 29.8
inches. Behind the low a 29.9 inch ridge builds over the lake on
Saturday night before a stronger, 29.2 inch, low moves through
central Ontario on Sunday.
