Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern/Central MO and Southwest IL
National Weather Service Saint Louis MO
419 PM CDT Wed Oct 15 2025

Temperatures will remain unseasonably warm through Friday with
winds gradually increasing out of the south through the week
ahead of a cold front. With the warmer air at the surface, mixing
heights will be unseasonably high (3-5kft) during the afternoon
and will have no problem rising above 1700ft by mid-morning both
Thursday and Friday. Friday in particular will see very good
ventilation rates across most of Missouri, with the low-level
atmosphere becoming very unstable and transport winds jumping
into the 15-20mph range. Minimum RH values are currently forecast
in the 35-50% range both days, with about a 10% chance of seeing
RH values fall to the 25-35% range across the region by Friday.
All of this will be amidst wind speeds of 10-15mph, and the
driest air looks offset from the strongest winds. While brief
periods of elevated fire danger may develop on Friday, they will
be few and far between. Critical fire danger warranting a Red
Flag Warning is not likely due to the factors described above.

The cold front arrives Saturday morning bringing widespread
beneficial rainfall to the region, with some areas reaching 1.50-
2.50 inches when all is said and done late Saturday. Cooler air
will accompany the front, with temperatures modulating through
early next week.
