Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern/Central MO and Southwest IL
National Weather Service Saint Louis MO
404 AM CDT Mon Oct 13 2025

A cold front will stall over the region today with the low chance
(15-40%) for showers extending from central Missouri through
west- central Illinois. Showers will be light and are not
expected to result in any relief to dry areas. Lingering cloud
cover along the stalled boundary will keep high temperatures a
few degrees cooler, mainly over sections central Missouri. Cloud
cover will limit deeper mixing, capping mixing heights below
3,000 feet this afternoon. Even where a little more sunshine
results, mixing heights remain near or below 4,000 feet through
this afternoon. Cloud cover gradually shift northward through
midweek, remaining thickest over sections of northern Missouri
into west-central Illinois, and though mixing heights will
gradually increase through midweek, cloud cover will limit peak
heights Tuesday (2,000-4,000 feet) and Wednesday (3,000-
5,000 feet). Locations under thicker cloud cover will also see a
delay in the erosion of morning inversion, leading to later start
(late morning/early afternoon) to reaching mixing height
thresholds of 1,600 feet or higher. Few locations over northeast
Missouri may barely achieve this threshold. Meanwhile, minimum RH
values remain elevated Monday (40-70%) with higher values under
cloud cover, then trail off with 40-50% values at most locations
with exception to northeast Missouri, where values will remain
near 60%.

Above normal warmth is expected to last through at least Friday.
A cold front brings better potential of showers and progressively
cooler temperatures through the end of the upcoming weekend.
