Periods of rain with an occasional thunderstorm or two will
continue tonight and Friday as a warm front moves into the region
and stalls near the I-70 corridor. Total rainfall is expected to
range from around 0.5 inch in northeast Missouri and west central
Illinois, to up to 2 inches across parts of the eastern Ozarks.
The lower atmosphere will continue to be very stable due to a
strong inversion on Friday, with mixing heights not exceeding
1700 ft across most of the area.
Mild and dry weather with plenty of sunshine is expected this
weekend with afternoon mixing heights ranging from around 2000 ft
in northeast Missouri and west central Illinois to around
3000 feet over the eastern Ozarks. However humidity will be
relatively high with lowest readings not dropping below
50 percent in most locations. More rain is in the forecast ahead
of a cold front on Monday, possibly lingering into Tuesday.
