Temperatures will vary pretty drastically across the region
tomorrow, with strengthening southerly winds across most of the
region sending temperatures into the upper 80s and low 90s
along/south of I-70. North of this line, more abundant cloud
cover and intermittent rain will keep temperatures in the upper
70s to low 80s. This will drastically impact mixing heights
tomorrow, with southern areas seeing very good vertical mixing
with increased low- level instability. Further north, both
parameters will be far poorer. RH values will similarly vary
significantly, with minimum values struggling to fall past the
70s in the north and dropping into the 40s elsewhere.
All of this precludes what is likely to be a widespread wetting
rain, with the highest amounts (2-3", possibly more in localized
spots) forecast in northern Missouri and west-central Illinois.
While a wetting rain is forecast further south, amounts will
likely be quite lower. A cold front clears the region late
Friday, ushering in cooler and drier conditions for the
foreseeable future after that.
