.DISCUSSION...
Localized spots of elevated fire weather concern will be possible
this afternoon and once again tomorrow as temperatures begin to
warm, and winds become breezy to windy over the next 24 hours. This
afternoon, breezy southwest winds will develop primarily over the
South Plains. Despite the breezy conditions, temperatures still
relatively cool in the lower 60s will help keep concerns limited.
Winds will calm overnight with recoveries around the 80th
percentile. Winds will then begin to increase once again becoming
breezy off the Caprock Saturday and windy across the Caprock. Winds
will range from 15 to 30 MPH with gusts up to 40 mph possible. These
warm, dry winds will work to drive in warm air into the region,
leading to an increase in high temperatures in the 60s to around 70
degrees. Given this, we could see another day of locally elevated
fire weather concerns given these stronger winds and minimum RH
values in the upper teens to the lower 20th percentile.
