Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Lubbock TX
1113 AM CDT Fri Jun 13 2025

...NOTICE OF TEMPORARY SERVICE DISPRUPTION TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO...

The National Weather Service forecast office in Lubbock, Texas will
be conducting a required update to our Advanced Weather Interactive
Processing System (AWIPS) system from Monday, June 16, 2025 at 8 AM
through approximately Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 5 PM. The NWS uses
the AWIPS computer system to display and integrate weather and water
information, and to send life-saving information, such as weather
and water warnings, to the public.

During the time of the update, forecast operations will be conducted
by our service backup office in Norman, Oklahoma to minimize any
potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core services
of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories
are expected during this period. However, all NOAA Weather Radio
transmitters maintained by NWS Lubbock will be off-the-air through
the time of the install (Monday, June 16, 2025 through Thursday,
June 19, 2025), and NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts will be unavailable.
This includes broadcasts from the following transmitters, in Texas:
Lubbock, Plainview, Summerfield, Childress, and Dickens.

The forecast office in Lubbock, Texas will remain open and staffed
throughout this period for public and partner phone calls and additional
functions that can be completed without AWIPS.

Any questions about this update can be directed to Warning
Coordination Meteorologist Marissa Pazos at marissa.pazos@noaa.gov
or Meteorologist In Charge Justin Weaver at justin.weaver@noaa.gov.
