...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...
.DISCUSSION...
Snow showers have come to an end late this morning, though a few
flurries will be possible through early afternoon.
A Wind Advisory is in effect through mid afternoon, though it
appears the strongest wind gusts have already occurred. Southwest
winds will slowly turn west this afternoon, and gust around 20 to
25 mph into this evening. The blustery conditions are also
leading to blowing snow in areas that saw accumulating snow last
night. Temperatures will be in the 20s this afternoon, with wind
chills in the single digits to teens.
Winds decrease slightly this evening, then increase again tonight
from the southwest, and gusts around 35 to 45 mph. Cold as lows
settle around 20F tonight and wind chills in the low teens.
The next frontal system moves across the area Wednesday afternoon
into the evening. It will be a dry frontal passage with more gusty
westerly winds expected. This dry and gusty wind pattern largely
persists through Thursday before high pressure finally builds in
by Friday. This continued windy pattern will further dry fuels
which may lead to further fire weather concerns this week. The
next chance for any rainfall would come on Sunday.
