...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Very hot and humid conditions are being observed this afternoon,
and will continue into this evening. Current heat index values
are in the 105 to 108 degree range around the search site, and
could make a run at 110 before the afternoon is done. That is
the primary threat this afternoon, so consider several breaks,
drinking plenty of fluids, and seeking shade as much as possible.

The secondary threat will be thunderstorms, which have started to
develop in areas north and west of the search site. This chance
increases over the next couple of hours and into this evening,
where a 30 to 40 percent chance of storms is expected.

Dangerous heat index values likely continue into the evening, not
dropping below 90 until close to midnight or so.

This dome of high pressure will weaken the second half of the week,
allowing a front to settle toward the area Thursday and Friday with
greater chances for showers and thunderstorms. The front will lift
back to the north this weekend, but continued hot and humid
conditions will support daily shower and thunderstorm development.
