Survey Summary:
An individual at the Severn Sailing Association marina provided a
video of a waterspout between Eastport and the U.S. Naval Academy,
over Spa Creek. The waterspout moved into the shoreline at the
marina. That eyewitness saw the waterspout move ashore and over
the marina. They documented a few trailered and stored small boats
that were blown over by the wind in the parking area. The
circulation moved quickly back over water over the mouth of the
Severn River where additional social media video showed it as
viewed from near the Route 450 bridge. Terminal Doppler Weather
Radar TBWI operating nearby in northern Anne Arundel County showed
the circulation intensify briefly along this track, moving west to
east. It dissipated before reaching land on the other side of the
Severn River, and no other damage has been reported. The National
Weather Service would like to thank the Severn Sailing
Association, and the City of Annapolis Office of Emergency
Management for contributing to this survey.
