.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1209 AM CDT Sat Aug 29 2026

Drier air continues to filter into the state early this Sat morning
in wake of the front over the past 24-36 hrs. This front will bring
temps back closer to normal for today...though may still be a few
deg above normal for highs. Upper flow this morning will be NRLY
as the upper ridge remains west of AR. However...this ridge will
begin expanding back over the region starting Sun.

As the upper ridge expands back over the region on Sun...temps will
start warming again. This ridge looks to settle across the region
early next week...with temps continuing to rise. Humidity levels
will also increase over time...and heat index values will gradually
warm to near or over Heat Adv levels this coming week. As a
result...additional heat headlines may be needed.

Chances for rainfall will also remain low with the upper ridge
settling over the region. However...there could be some weakness in
the upper ridge by mid week as the center may shift east...which
could result in some isolated convection.
