- Heat advisories/extreme heat warnings continue through Tuesday,
  with another 100 degree day possible.

- Make sure to drink plenty of water and take breaks when outside.

- Weak cold front will move through the state Wednesday, bringing
  rain chances, much needed rainfall and temperature relief.

- More seasonable July/Aug temperatures set to resume by the end
  of the work week.

To begin the period, a ridge of high pressure continues to
dominate the weather pattern. This will continue those hot and
mainly dry conditions through the rest of today. The pattern is
expected to breakdown by Wednesday with more widespread rain
chances possible through the end of the workweek thanks to NW flow
aloft.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to remain mostly below
severe criteria with beneficial rainfall likely Wednesday through
Friday. In addition to the rainfall, the increase cloud cover will
provide some temperature relief across the state.

The biggest threat Tuesday will be the dangerous temperatures and
heat index values. For Tuesday afternoon, it is possible many
locations across the state will reach 100 degrees with heat index
values much hotter. Heat headlines have been continued all across
the state through Tuesday afternoon with a mix of heat advisories
for southern and northern locations and an extreme heat warning
for eastern and central Arkansas and the AR River Valley.

If you plan to be outdoors for any reason this weekend and next
week, make sure you have shade to rest in, take multiple breaks,
and drink plenty of water.

VFR conditions are expected throughout the period, but lower VFR
and mid level clouds with showers will be moving into the state
this evening, continuing south into the rest of the state
overnight. Most ceilings will stay above FL050, but some guidance
does have some MVFR ceilings over central AR in the morning, so I
did add a SCT025 to show that potential timing. There may be
lightning at times with these storms, but it will be isolated and
hard to tell exactly where, so VCTS and TS mentions are left out
of all TAFs. Any lighting would be in the late morning to early
afternoon for timing and mostly over central and eastern AR.
