-Hot conditions will be the primary story for the next week or so as
an upper level ridge expands over the region

-Little to no chances for precipitation expected for next week

-Heat headlines in place today for many areas...which may be
 extended into the next several days and maybe expanded to include
 more of the state

.DISCUSSION...

Not much good news to pass around over the next week or so for those
who don`t like hot weather as the next week looks to become dry
and very hot. Initially...flow aloft will keep the relatively less
hot conditions in place for the next day or so...with weakness in
the upper flow overhead keeping temps from warming too far. Even
so...will likely see temps in the 90s to around 100 for highs
today...and heat index values over 100 for most areas. A good
portion of the AR River Valley, and areas across the ERN and NRN
CWA will see heat index values exceed 105 today. Have a Heat Adv
in place as a result.

Upper level ridging will continue expanding over the region by the
middle part of the week...with the center of the near 600dm 500 mb
ridge nearly directly above the state by the weekend. This will keep
POPs nearly zero...but more importantly...allow temps to warm into
the upper 90s to well over 100 deg for most areas. In fact...many
areas may see several days with temps the warmest so far this year.
The only slight good news is that without any addition precip and
with SWRLY SFC winds each afternoon...dewpts may actually drop some
each day. Even so...heat index values will likely remain at or above
Heat Adv levels...with some areas maybe needing Extreme Heat Warning
headlines at some point.

With drying conditions possible each afternoon as dewpts mix
out...this may increase the overall wildfire threat at temps sore
well above normal. This will also need to be watched in the next
week or so...with areas that saw the locally heavy rainfall recently
being the exception.
