534 FXUS64 KLZK 222341 AFDLZK Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Little Rock AR 641 PM CDT Fri Aug 22 2025 ...New AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1258 AM CDT Fri Aug 22 2025 Fairly quiet conditions ongoing across the Natural State early this Fri morning in wake of the front that pushed into the region on Thu. Light NERLY winds were noted...keeping relatively lower moisture levels in place. Flow aloft will continue from the NE over the region...with SFC high pressure to the NE of the state. This will keep mainly dry conditions in place as light NERLY winds are expected to continue into the weekend. While NERLY winds and relatively drier air will remain...temps will still warm to near or above normal today and into Sat. By late Sat into early Sun...flow aloft will transition back to a more NWRLY direction over the region as an upper shortwave drops SE over the region. A new cold front will then drop south towards AR...moving south through the state by late this weekend. By late this weekend into early next week...this front looks to slow or stall over some portion of the region...potentially SW of AR. Flow aloft will remain from the NW during much of next week...parallel to the SFC boundary. Upper waves will move over the region in this NW flow aloft...with some increased rain chances returning to the forecast starting late Mon. These increased rain chances look to continue for much of next week for at least some portion of the state. While the front may slow or stall in vicinity of the state...or just S/SW of AR...the placement of best chances for rainfall may be uncertain depending on where the boundary ends up. NRLY SFC flow will bring in cooler and drier air to the region in wake of the front...which may also cause some uncertainty in rain potential. In any case...below normal conditions are expected for much of next week either due to the post frontal air...or rain potential. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 638 PM CDT Fri Aug 22 2025 VFR conds are expected through the TAF period. Tonight, winds will be light and variable, then N/NErly at around 10 kts on Sat. Overnight SKC should transition to partly cloudy by Sat afternoon. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
