The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) for severe weather over the northern half of Arkansas and a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather over parts of central and much of southern Arkansas. The primary threats with the opportunity of severe weather from Wednesday mid-day into Wednesday evening will be damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, large hail up to quarter-sized, and as a secondary threat the tornado risk will be very low, but not-zero. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday intense heat in the form of elevated air temperatures and oppressive dewpoint temperatures will equate to heat index values which will be over 100 degrees across most of the state and localized areas of heat index values in excess of 105 degrees or higher. It will be a must to practice heat safety going into this weekend regardless if you are working or recreating outdoors.
