Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
209 PM CDT Tue Aug 18 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather conditions remain low to none. ERCs are in the 50th to
74th percentile and rising, accompanied by hot temperatures, a lack
of wetting rainfall, and MinRHs occasionally falling below critical
thresholds in our western counties. Despite these factors, light
winds and good to excellent overnight recoveries keep fire weather
concerns low. Isolated showers/storms over drier fuels may pose risk
of fire starts from lightning and strong, erratic winds.

Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather
Service Office.
