Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
155 AM CDT Fri Aug 21 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Initial attack remains a concern moving into the weekend due to
critically dry surface fuels and temperatures above 100 degrees. A
few storms enter the picture late Saturday across the northern
Permian Basin and SE NM. This could bring gusty, erratic winds,
but very little rainfall.

Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather
Service Office.
