Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
130 PM CDT Fri Aug 21 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns are low to moderate into the weekend due to
critically dry fuels and temperatures above 100 degrees. A few
storms are possible late Saturday across the northern Permian Basin
and portions of southeast New Mexico. This could bring gusty/erratic
winds and possible fire starts, but little rainfall. However, fire
spread should be mitigated as the background winds will be
relatively light.
