Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
207 AM CDT Thu Aug 13 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Min RHs generally remain above 15% and winds stay below critical
thresholds through the period. ERCs remain near or just above the
50th percentile, but fuels continue to cure given persistent hot
and dry conditions. Scattered showers and storms are expected
daily in/near the higher terrain west of the Pecos through the
weekend. While these will produce wetting rains, storms that
develop may also produce gusty/erratic winds and lead to lightning
starts. However, the overall threat for fire spread will be low
through the period.
