Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
158 PM CDT Wed Jun 19 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated fire weather conditions are expected today from the
Sacramento Foothills and Eddy County plains into the Presidio
Vally and Big Bend. Due to increased 20-ft winds, RFTIs up to 4
will be present this afternoon over the Sacramento Foothills into
the Eddy County plains, however, min RH should stay above critical
15% and no fire weather products are anticipated. An increase in
moisture from remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto Thursday into the
end of this week will present chance of wetting rains mainly west
of the Pecos River. Saturday and onward, storm chances over the
Sacramento Foothills and Davis Mountains could pose a risk of fire
starts from lightning, otherwise light winds and min RH above
critical will limit fire risk.
