Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
218 PM CDT Sun Jun 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...

While highs climb above average early this week, light winds, min
RH above critical 15%, good overnight recovery, and recent rains
keep widespread fire weather conditions from developing. Isolated
storms over the Sacramento Foothills and Davis Mountains each
afternoon could pose a risk of fire starts from lightning and
gusty, erratic winds over critically dry fuels. Next weekend,
cooler temperatures and monsoonal moisture increases rain chances
over higher terrain of West Texas into Southeast New Mexico, but
any accumulations are expected to remain small and spotty in
coverage, apart from over the Sacramento Foothills.
