Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
114 AM CDT Mon Aug 24 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Initial attack remains a concern due to critically dry surface
fuels and temperatures above 100 degrees. The forecast remains
dry until midweek when the chance of showers and storms becomes
more widespread. This could bring a threat of lightning and new
starts as well as gusty, erratic winds. Outside of storms, fire
spread will be limited as winds remain southerly to southwesterly
at around 10-15mph.

Service Office.
