Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated fire weather conditions will continue this afternoon
in Southeast New Mexico, Guadalupe Mountains, Permian Basin, and
areas from Hobbs to Seminole and Lamesa, where southwest to west
winds of 20 mph and RH values were in the lower 20s. Winds will drop
off quickly early this evening. Recovery overnight will be poor in
isolated parts of the Big Bend Area, but moderate to excellent
elsewhere. Southwest winds will be lighter Tuesday. RH minimums
Tuesday afternoon will be in the teens in the Big Bend region
with 20 to 25 percent elsewhere.

Low level moisture will be increase significantly Tuesday night
into Wednesday, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday
into Thursday. Erratic and gusty winds possible near storms. Windy
Thursday into Friday in mountains and higher elevations. Cooler
Thursday into next week.
