Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
138 AM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025

.DISCUSSION...

While overall fire weather conditions remain minimal, continued
dry conditions will increase the potential for IA. This is
especially true where drier fuels exist east of the Pecos River.
Winds will increase behind a weak front later today into Wednesday
across the higher terrain, but higher moisture values should help
mitigate any fire threat. Winds will decrease through the rest of
the week as high pressure builds back over the region. Low
chances for precipitation return to the area today into Wednesday,
but amounts look very light. Dry conditions are expected late
week into the weekend.
