Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
135 PM CDT Wed Sep 16 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Min RH stays above critical 15% with good to excellent recovery,
along with 20-ft winds largely remaining below 20 mph. This will
offset continued warm temperatures, fuel ERCs in the 50th to 74th
percentile, and isolated daytime storms over western higher
terrain that pose a low risk for fire starts from lightning and
strong, erratic winds. Warm and dry weather through the end of the
week limits fire risk further. Then, cooler weather and increased
chance of wetting rains by Sunday through next week keep fire
weather conditions out of the forecast.
